John Farris

CLOVER -- Mr. John Sherman Farris 74, of Columbia Street died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Carolina's Specialty Hospital, Charlotte, N.C.

The funeral was held March 30, at Clover A.R.P. Church, with the Rev. Evan English officiating. Burial followed at the Bethany A.R.P. Church Cemetery.

Mr. Farris was born May 19, 1933, in York County to the late Marion Franklin and Alma Bratton Faris. He was the widower of Ercel "Kat" Trull Farris.

Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Tina Farris of Clover; two daughters, Rickey Hoover-Cowan of Orange Park, Fla. and Carol Norman Hope of Gastonia, N.C.; a grandson, Bradley Farris; and 19 other grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Clover A.R.P. Church, 127 Kings Mountain Street, Clover, SC 29710.

Bertha Mae Moss

TEGA CAY -- Mrs. Bertha Mae Woolbright Moss, 80, of Palmetto Place, Tega Cay, died March 24, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill.

The funeral was held March 29, at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dave Stanford officiating. Burial was in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Nashville, Tenn.

Mrs. Moss was born March 17, 1928, in Warren County, Ky., to the late George and Lillian Woolbright. She was the widow of William Loyce Moss.

Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Theresa M. and Dennis Hinds of Atlanta, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary T. and Catherine Moss Sr., of Fayetteville, N.C., and W. Allan and Joni Moss of York; grandchildren, Gary T. Moss Jr., Mary Catherine Moss, John Moss, Erick Moss, Jennifer Bocks and Samantha Hinds; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 925, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Frances Nivens Neely

YORK -- Frances Nivens Neely, 88, of 315 Simrill Ave. died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral was April 1, 2008, at First Wesleyan Church of York. The Rev Todd Reynolds officiated. Burial was at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York, S.C., Mrs. Neely was a daughter of the late Shelton Hale Nivens and Elear Jones Nivens. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church of York. She was a retired spinner and trainer at American Thread company.

She is survived by her husband, Robert N. (Rob) Neely of York, S.C.; her son, Robert J. Neely of Gastonia, N.C.; two sisters, Louise Montgomery and Lorine Stevenson, both of York, S.C.; and two brothers, Mike Nivens of Irmo, S.C., and Shell Nivens of York, S.C. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Bobbie Jean and Chris and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Wesleyan Church, 1830 York Highway, York, SC 29745.

Doris Racicot

YORK -- Doris Racicot, 87, of Sandy Hill Road, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill.

A memorial service was held, March 29, at Divine Saviour Roman Catholic Church. Father Robert Jalbert, MM and Father Albanio Munoz officiated the service.

Bratton Funeral Home in York is serving the Racicot family.

Robert Bolivar Scott

YORK -- Robert Bolivar Scott, 79, of 121 North Congress St., died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his home.

The funeral was March 26 at First Presbyterian Church in York. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Bratton Funeral Home served the Scott family.
