Students make Winthrop honors lists
Several local students earned spots on Winthrop University's 2008 Fall President's List and Dean's List.
Patrick Lee Beasley, Alisha Hope Bowen, Julia Marie Brown and Mary Elizabeth Faulkner, all of Clover along with Meaghan Kathlena Champion, Jessica Leigh Harvey, Kimberly Devin McNeely, Tracy Diane Morton and Jenny Lynn Wallace, all of York earned spots on the President's List.

Buy bracelet to help local family
Several locations, including schools in the Clover School District, Bank of York in Lake Wylie and the Peach Tree in Filbert, are selling pink bracelets for $5 each to benefit 1-year-old Mackenzie DeCuir as she undergoes treatment for stage four neuroblastoma, a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system.
DeCuir is the daughter of Mike and Julie, a teacher at Griggs Road Elementary School, of York.

Yard sale Saturday
HICKORY GROVE -- The Hickory Grove/Sharon Elementary School Relay for Life team is sponsoring "Hickory Grove's Largest Yard Sale" 8 a.m., Saturday, April 4 at the Hickory Grove Ball Field/Park. Anyone interested in having a yard sale is welcome to join. A $10 fee (which will be given to the American Cancer Society) will reserve a space at the sale. Sellers need to bring their own tables, racks and anything else needed to sell items, all proceeds from sales remain with the sellers.
Please no food or drink sales because the Hickory Grove Fire Department will be having a Hash and Barbeque sale that day too. They will also be selling sausage biscuits, hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, etc. There will also be a Tractor Show.

Spring Carnival
YORK -- Hunter Street Elementary School will hold its second annual Spring Carnival, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday, April 4, featuring games for all ages, bounce houses, food, a raffle and silent auction. Raffle tickets will sell for $1 with a shot at the grand prize, a $300 Wal-Mart gift card. The event will run rain or shine. For more information, call 684-2869.
