William "Bill" Clinton

CLOVER -- Mr. William T. "Bill" Clinton, 91, of 107 Poplar St., passed away Monday, March 30, 2009, at his son's home.

Mr. Clinton was born April 30, 1917, in York County to the late Robert A. and Martha Adams Clinton. He was the widower of Frances Walker Clinton. He was retired from American Thread and Pharr Yarns in Clover.

He was preceded in death by his brother, W.G. Clinton; and five sisters, Sara Wells, Lula Smith, Virginia Deal, Rosa Mullinax and Gladys Moore.

He is survived by one son, Larry Clinton; and grandson, Aaron Clinton; daughter-in-law, Angie Clinton; and her two children, Elaine Tyra and Jack Huskey. He is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Clinton was a World War II Army veteran and proudly served his country. He was in the Army from 1937 to 1941 where he was in one of the last mounted Calvary units in the Army. He came home but was recalled after Pearl Harbor. He then spent two years training troops before his deployment to Europe where he took part in several campaigns including the Battle Of The Bulge.

The funeral was April 4 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Woodside Cemetery.

Yvonne Foster

LANDRUM -- Yvonne Louise Rowland Foster, 55, of 715 Belue Mill Road, Lot 6, died March 31, 2009.

A memorial service was held at April 3 at the Country Mouse Inn in Landrum.

Lawrence Hall Harris

YORK -- Mr. Lawrence Harris, 74, of South Shiloh Road died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at his home in York.

A graveside service was April 7 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Pastor James Gable officiated.

Morgan Montgomery

CLOVER -- Morgan Clarence "MC" Montgomery, 73, of 2520 Riverford Road died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at home.

Funeral service was April 4, 2009, at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Sam McGregor officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Montgomery was born May 23, 1935, in Latta to the late Clarence and Aline Johnson Montgomery. He was retired from Okuma.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Biggerstaff and brothers, Lewis Montgomery and Charles Montgomery.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley H. Montgomery of Clover; daughters, Monica Louise George and Brenda Benton, both of Rock Hill, and Sherry Lynn Pressley of Clover; sons, Robert Childers of Clover, Andy Montgomery of Mount Vernon, Wash., Morgan Montgomery Jr. of Rock Hill, and Mark Montgomery of Norwalk, Conn.; brother, Forrest Montgomery of York, and Harold Montgomery of Clover; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Allison Creek Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 5780 Allison Creek Road, York, SC 29745.

Gertrude Culbertson

CLOVER -- Gertrude Dallas Gibson Culbertson, 77, of 6363 Oakridge Road, Clover, died April 1, 2009, at home.

The funeral was April 4 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Clover, with Dr. John Cabe officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Carrie Hagans

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- Carrie Compton Hagans, 98, of 108 Hagans Drive, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Cleveland Regional Hospital in Shelby, N.C.

The funeral was April 3 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Clover, with the Rev. Charles W. Kinley officiating. Interment was in Woodside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cleveland County, 953 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

James Lightner

LAKE WYLIE -- James Allen Lightner, 41, of 925 Wild Mustang Drive, died March 29, 2009.

The funeral was April 2 at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bart Plaxco officiating. Burial was in Concord Cemetery.
