Clover MS band seeks donations

The economy has hit many families hard, and as parents tighten the family budget to make ends meet, their children are missing out on a valuable experience: the school band program.

To help these students, Clover Middle School is seeking donations of used band instruments. Many families have an old band instrument stored away that can be made playable for just a few dollars in repairs. The donations are often worth more as a tax donation than if an attempt is made to sell outright.

If you have an old band instrument, consider donating to the school band program. Instruments may be delivered to the Clover School District Auditorium or Clover Middle School main office.

The band program will also accept monetary donations to assist in providing instruments to students. To help, contact Clover Middle School at 810-8300.

Metrolina foodbank aims to help local students

Second Harvest of Metrolina, in conjunction with the York and Clover school districts, began its second year providing backpacks to elementary school students who have been identified as being “at risk” of hunger. The program provides backpacks filled with nutritious foods for the students each week. The districts are grateful of the support Second Harvest has provided for the students.

For more information, contact the York District office at 684-9916, the Clover District office at 810-8000, or Second Harvest at 704-376-1785.
