CHS students design school seal

CLOVER --

Student body elected officers unveiled a brand new school seal for Clover High School Monday night.

The students began working on the seal in August at the request of Assistant Principal Dr. Tommy Schmolze, and worked with Jostens, a company that provides class rings and other academic related items, to design the seal. Prior to Monday the high school has never had a school seal.

Clover’s sports teams have always used the “Block C” with an eagle logo, which has been included in the seal, but the seal is intended to cover other aspects of high school life for students as well.

The torch, being passed from one hand to another represents the continuity of Clover High in the community with generation after generation attending classes. The mask, palette and harp represent the arts programs, and the cap and scroll represent the academic excellence the school strives for, the students said.

The four-leaf clover in the center of the seal stands for the community of Clover, and the oil lamp at the bottom represents the lamp of knowledge, and is there to uphold all the positive characteristics of the school. The words “tradition,” “character” and “excellence” are values the school strives to instill in it’s students they said.

The student committee that came up with the seal included Bryson Bottini, Caroline Hall, Matt Russell, Brian Mekler, Eric Moss, Savanah Knight and Leslie Knight.
