CHS indoor percussion group places 11th

CLOVER --

The Clover High School Indoor Percussion Ensemble competed in the WGI World Championships last week in Dayton, Ohio. The group made it through preliminary and semi-finals competitions and performed in the finals on Saturday, finishing in 11th placeoverall.

This group has been competing since January in the Carolina Indoor Performance Association (CIPA) circuit locally, and has placed in the top three groups at every competition.

Because of their success they were recently been reclassified into the “open” class, which is the highest classification for high school ensembles.

The group is made up of 37 Clover High School percussionists and directed by Dan Lenard, CHS’s director of percussion studies, and Ann Lewis, assistant director.

This year’s show is entitled “No Regrets” and is based on the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
