YORK --

The York Middle School eighth-grade team fell to Sullivan Middle as the clock ran out last week.

“With the score tied at 8-8, our defense held Sullivan three straight plays at the 1-inch line,” noted head coach Jerry Kemp. “On third down, we threw Sullivan for a 6-yard loss.

“On fourth down from the 6-yard line with no time left in regulation, Sullivan scored to win the game.”

Kemp said the Cougars played extremely hard and scored to tie the game with 6:23 left.

“Our defense allowed Sullivan only three first downs in the second half,” he said. “We are very proud of our kids' effort.”

The middle school Cougars finished the regular season 4-3 and 2-3 in the conference and were scheduled to play a home playoff game Wednesday.
