York County’s buy-local campaign holds scavenger hunt

YORK -- 

The Buy-Local campaign of the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce is holding its first “Holiday Hunt”, a community scavenger hunt to raise awareness during the 2012 holiday season.

The hunt will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The hunt begins with registration at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Baxter Village. The two hour “Holiday Hunt” will send residents to businesses in Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Rock Hill and require each team to complete an array of tasks. Following the hunt there will be an awards ceremony where the grand prize team and individual winners will be announced,

The goal of the event is to increase the awareness through social media and help increase the knowledge of local residents. In turn, they will have the tools to educate others regarding spending money within the county and in effect, keep our tax dollars local, which through the multiplier effect will improve the quality of life where we live.

• The Allen Tate Real Estate “Leave an Impression” Campaign for the Arts made a gift of $2,660 to the Arts Council of York County recently The checks and pledges from individual Realtors were presented by Sandy Johnson, whose team is located on Ebenezer Avenue in Rock Hill.

The “Leave an Impression” campaign spans both North and South Carolina. Team members have the option to donate to the cultural institution of their choice in the areas where they work. Twenty-seven realtors from Lake Wylie, Rock Hill, York, Tega Cay, Fort Mill, Lancaster and Ballantyne participated.

Diversified Signs and Graphics has been acquired by Marcus Higgins and John Elvington.

Diversified Signs is a full service wholesale architectural sign company offering consultation, design, fabrication and installation throughout the southeast.

Michael and Debbie Wilson, owners of Diversified Sign and Graphics, said Higgins and Elvington's relationships with sign resellers will help Diversified Signs grow. Wilson will remain with Diversified and oversee the company’s fabrication and installation departments.
