Easley football coach named to lead Blue Eagles

CLOVER --

Chad Smith was named the new head football coach at Clover High School on Tuesday afternoon.

Smith comes to York County from Easley High School, where he was the head football coach since July 2009. He replaces John Barrett, who served as Clover’s interim coach after John Devine abruptly resigned four games into the season.

Smith’s arrival at Clover follows three very successful years in charge of the Green Wave football program. He led Easley to a three-year record of 29-9, the best such run in school history, while reaching the second round of the state playoffs twice.
