Clover chamber plans ‘think local’ campaign

CLOVER The Greater Clover Chamber of Commerce is unveiling a “think local” campaign — a concentrated effort to get the community and surrounding areas to spend their dollars with local businesses.

The chamber will have “think local” stickers for cars and/or storefronts to allow people to show support for the campaign. It also will have dates when residents are encouraged to patronize local businesses.

The next Business After Hours will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at Bowl & Bounce, 4034 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie. The event is sponsored by Elrod Pope Law Firm and will be jointly hosted by the Clover and Lake Wylie chambers.

In addition, the chamber will host a Females in Businesse networking lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at First United Methodist Church, Clover. Admission is $10 members and $12 nonmembers. Speaker will be Daphne Carter from Image Savvy Consultants. Details, call the chamber at 222-3312.

Inman Farms to open in June

YORK Inman Farms on S.C. 5 west of York plans to open in June as an agri-tourism destination. The farm will also introduce services as a destination for weddings, reunions and special events.

The Market at Inman Farms, a roadside stand, is open and available for local farmers and artisans interested in selling local produce, arts, crafts and other hand-made items. The market will be available through December.

Inman Farms, owned by Roe Inman, and The Market at Inman Farms will make its official debut during the second annual York County Ag + Art Tour June 8 to 9. The farm also plans to host weddings, family gatherings, civic group meetings and other events.

Once a working farm, Inman Farms is home to a vintage 1951 peach packing shed. Plans are in the works for tours to be offered. For details, contact Signa Curry, events coordinator, at inmanfarmsyorksc@gmail.com.

Edward Jones advisor plans coffee club

YORK Robert Winkler, a local Edward Jones financial advisor, will be hosting a coffee club at 9 a.m. on the second Friday of each month at the Edward Jones office at 128 N. Congress St., York.

“The coffee club offers us an opportunity to learn from one another and receive market updates,” Winkler said. “I look forward foward to keeping individual investors informed about the current market and economy, as well as have fun and get to know some of my neighbors.”

Edward Jones provides financial services for investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, in Canada. The company, which has more than 12,000 financial advisors, is headquartered in St. Louis.

Clover chamber selling anniversary bracelet

CLOVER The Greater Clover Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the sale of a charm bracelet to mark the 125th anniversary annivesary of Clover.

The bracelet is $25, available from the Clover chamber and at Good Things Consignment & More and Siopa on Main, both in downtown Clover. The bracelet has 10 charms that represent the town’s past and the packaging has a card attached that tells what each charm represents.

The bracelets are silver-plated and each charm has a special meaning for the town. The charms represent Clover’s name, an eagle for the home of the Blue Eagles, a Celtic braid for its Scotch-Irish heritage, a key to represent the key to Clover’s heart, a train to make its railroad history, a Palmetto for the state of South Carolina, a ball of yarn for the town’s textile heritage, the clover that grew under the town’s water tank, love to represent “the town with love in the middle” and a 2012 charm to mark the 125th year.

Free financial workshops offered

ROCK HILL The York County Library and Family Trust Federal Credit Union are offering free finances and money management workshops “Know Your Dough: Inspiring Financial Freedom,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the library on Black Street in Rock Hill.

Up next will be Identity Theft: Who’s got Your Number?, March 12; and Legal Planning for Seniors, April 9. Participants can register at familytrust.org/knowyourdough or call 803-326-2187.
