Lady Blue Eagles soccer team shuts out Fort Mill

The Clover High School girls soccer team, ranked No. 13 in the state, made the most of its few shots on goal to defeat the Lady Yellow Jackets of Fort Mill 3-0 in Region 3-AAA action.

Brandi Comelio recorded a shutout in goal for Clover, despite Fort Mill’s eight shots on goal to Clover’s three. Both teams were 5-2 in the region following the game.

CHS tennis team improves to 6-1 in region

The Clover High School boys tennis team won all five singles matches in defeating Fort Mill 5-1 in Region 3-AAAA action.

Singles results: No. 1 - Andres Leon (C) def. Jay Karwatsky 6-1; No. 2 - Justin White (C) def. Tyler Haley 7-6 (3), 6-1; No. 3 - Patrick Smith (C) def. Luke Powell 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 - Rob Long (C) def. Billy Taylor 6-0, 3-6, 10-7; No. 5 - Garrett Smith (C) def. Sam Cauthen 6-0, 6-0.

Rock Hill narrowly defeats Cougar tennis team

The Rock Hill Bearcats won both doubles matches and claimed a come-from-behind win over the Cougars in a region match.

Singles: No. 1 - C. Williams (RH) def. Doan 6-1, 6-1; No. 2 - Sharp (RH) def. Newberry 6-1, 6-3; No. 3 - Goforth (Y) def. Walker 6-3, 6-0; No. 4 - Patterson (Y) def. Patel 6-1, 7-6 (7-5); No. 5 - Rodenhauser (Y) def. Pharr 6-4, 6-3.

Fort Mill golf team nudges Cougars in region match

Fort Mill defeated the York Comprehensive High School boys golf team 160-165 in a closely-contested match at York’s Spring Lake Country Club.

Individual scores for York included Luke Lancaster’s 39. Logan Aggeles finished at 41, Austin Hall 40, Stroud Baker 45 and Chandler Sain 45.

South Pointe defeats YCHS track teams

South Pointe defeated the York Comprehensive High School girls track team 107-28 and the YCHS boys team 90-50.

The Clover High School boys tennis team won all five singles matches in defeating York 5-2. The Cougars won the doubles matches.

York boys tennis team wins region match

The York Comprehensive High School boys tennis team won its first Regkion 3-AAAA match, defeating Northwestern 5-1.

Singles winners were Patrick Newberry No. 2, Matthew Goforth No. 3, Daniel Patterson No. 4 and Colin Rodenhauser No. 5.

Cameron Good and Christian Wells won No. 2 doubles.

The Cougars lost to Union 5-1. Matthew Goforth was the singles winner at No. 3.

Future Cougars Basketball Camp set for June 24-27

The Annual Future Cougars Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 will be held June 24-27 at the York Comprehensive High School main gym and auxiliary gym.

Instructional sessions focusing on the fundamentals of the game will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day at a cost of $60 per child.

Daily instruction will be provided by York Comprehensive High School coaches and players.

“Let your child play where the Cougars play and learn the game from the Cougar basketball players,” suggests YCHS head girls basketball coach Paula Blackwell.

There is an employee and multi-child discount of $10 off per child.
