Fishing Creek plans friend, family day

YORK Fishing Creek Baptist Church, Springlake Road, York, will have Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. June 9.

Vacation Bible School, with the theme “Jesus Family Reunion: The Remix,” will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 10 to 14 with crafts, games, snacks and Bible study.

Clover Wesleyan plans hot dog sale

The men’s group at Clover Wesleyan Church, at South Main and Parkview streets in Clover, will sell hot dogs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday June 15. Call 803-222-7069 for more information or to place an order.

Divine Saviour plans rummage sale

Divine Saviour Catholic Church on Herndon Avenue in York will host its 13th annual indoor rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22.

The event will include free coffee; donuts will be for sale. Hot dogs, chips and drinks are $1 each. Proceeds will help fund a contingent of teens going to World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro next month, where they wiill gather with more than 2 million youth from all over the globe to celebrate WYD with Pope Francis.

Donated items may be dropped off at the church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. June 17 to 20. Call 684-3431 with any questions.

The day will end with a 7 p.m. concert on June 22 at the church. It will feature a wide variety of music, including local vocalists, a piano soloist, brass quintet, Southern gospel and more. A $10 donation will be accepted at the door for World Youth Day. Refreshments will be served afterward.

Abiding Presence plans yard sale

Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, 323 N. Congress St., York, will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 8. It will include furniture, electronics, tools, toys, clothes and more. Details, call 803-684-2793.

Beth Shiloh plans homecoming

As part of the Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church homecoming celebration “kick-off,” the church will host a 64-member youth Choir from Atlanta’s Shallowford Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 in the Family Life Center. The public is invited.

The annual Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church Homecoming on Sunday, June 9 will have Rev. Dr. John Roper, whose tenure at the church spans from 1978 to 1984, as guest speaker at the 11 a.m. worship. A meal will follow in the Family Life Center. Participants are asked to bring a filled basket and come and enjoy the fellowship of friends.

Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church is at 1184 N. Shiloh Road, York. The events are sponsored by the Beth Shiloh Cemetery Association.

Bright Light plans Bible school

Bright Light Independent Freewill Baptist Church on North Congress Street, York, will have Vacation Bible School, “God’s Backyard Bible Camp,” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 10-14.

Tabernacle of Praise to honor pastor

Tabernacle of Praise Church International, Wood Street, York, will honor the pastor and his family at 3 p.m. June 9. Dinner will be served from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Hillcrest Baptist to host gospel sing

Hillcrest Baptist Church on S.C. 49, between York and Sharon, will host a gospel sing featuring the Martins at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8. The Martins are regulars on television with Bill and Gloria Gaither.

Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken. The event is open to the public. For details, call the church at 803-684-9409.

New Beginnings seeks volunteers

Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church that delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.

Volunteers also are being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps to provide housing for the homeless. Volunteers will help with daily operations including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.

Community Cafe serving lunch

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tirzah church has fishing club

Tirzah ARP Church, Mount Gallant Road, York, has started a kids’ fishing club that meets on the third Saturday of each month.

Age divisions are younger than 6 and 7-11. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fish are measured and prizes awarded. The group is open to the community.
