— A Clover man remains jailed on attempted murder and other charges after police say he shot at his grandson then held a gun to his wife’s head Friday morning.

Jimmy Lee Hager, 63, is being held on $135,000 bond for charges that included two weapons charges and criminal domestic violence, along with the alleged attempt to kill his grandson, jail records show.

Hager’s wife told York County sheriff’s deputies that, after an argument and fight at the couple’s home on Cedar Grove Road near Clover, Hager choked his grandson, according to a sheriff’s report.

Hager returned with a gun and shot at the grandson several times, police said, before pointing the gun at his wife’s head as she sat in her vehicle.

Police waited near an out-building on the property, then arrested Hager as he tried to leave the property in his vehicle.
