— York Dixie baseball pre-majors team No. 3, the Sweet Frog Rip-its, finished an unbeaten season by defeating cross-county rival Rock Hill 15-10 last week at Optimist Park.

Coach Todd Jackson lauded the players last Thursday for responding to the challenge throughout the season.

“The lead changed hands several times in our exciting matchup with Rock Hill,” Jackson said.

Ryan Gilbert and Luc Greene shared pitching duties during the win.

“A combination of double-digit win margins, smart pitching and intense offense propelled the team to the top in this early summer league competition,” Jackson said.

The Rip-its, along with additional players from team No. 2, are competing in all-star tournament this week in Lancaster.

Jackson said he feels good about the all-star team’s chances.

Results of all-star tournament play in Lancaster will appear in next week’s Enquirer-Herald.

Rip-its team roster members who completed an unbeaten season include: Thomas Gray Culp, Elias Ennis, Jeremy Taylor, Zach Honberger, Robert Marhan, Thomas Wilkerson, Ethan Whitesides, Luc Greene, Ryan Gilbert and Charles Jackson.
