Storms fail to dampen York’s Fourth fun

From staff reportsJuly 5, 2013

— Thunderstorms briefly interruped York’s annual Fourth of July celebration at York Middle School, where families gathered Thursday for an evening of children’s activities, food, music and fireworks.

The city of York hosted the event on the stadium field for the six year. The Entertainers provided music, and inflatables and other children’s games were provided for free.

Heavy rain and thunderstroms rain broke out around 7:30 p.m. and celebration-goers scattered to find shelter in restroom areas, covered areas outside the middle school and in their cars until the storms cleared.

After the storms cleared, the celebration continued and the fireworks show took place as planned around 10 p.m.
