Registration underway for Clover fall sports

Registration is underway for youth fall sports activities at the Clover Parks and Recreation Department.

Registration for fall soccer, softball and baseball is available 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants who sign up after the registration deadline are not guaranteed a spot on a specific team, regardless of prior participation. Late registrants may have to go through the “draft,” if necessary.

York Little Cougars football forming

A new youth football association, the York Little Cougars, is starting this fall. The group will be a member of the Southland Youth Football League as part of the United Youth Football League.

The group will have one team for players 12 and younger as of July 31 and has plans to add more teams in 2014. The 12U team will have a 24-player roster and will play 10 games with some travel.

The team will run an age-appropriate version of the York Cougars varsity team’s playbook.

A volunteer group has committed to lead and manage the York Little Cougars. The group has partnered with Shock Doctor to provide free mouth guards. A partnership with USA Football and the Heads Up Football program will educate coaches and ensure they are qualified.

Registration is $125 and includes all equipment except helmets and cleats. For more information, email yorklittlecougars@gmail.com.

York offers baseball camp

The York Parks and Recreation Department will offer a baseball camp for ages 7-13 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 22-24 at the York Recreation Complex on Fourth Street. Cost is $35 per child or $60 for two siblings and includes a T-shirt. The camp will be conducted by York High coaches and players. The registration deadline is July 17.

YCHS softball camp July 22-25

The York Comprehensive High School varsity girls’ softball team will host a youth camp for ages 8-12 from 9 to 11 a.m. July 22-25 at the York High softball complex.

The camp fee is $50 and includes a T-shirt. For more information, contact coach Susan Lee Ballard at sballard@york.k12.sc.us.

British soccer camp returns to Clover Rec

The Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp returns to Clover in July.

The five-day camp will be held July 22-26 at Clover Community Park.

Each camp day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily World Cup Tournament.

Clover girls’ softball camp planned

The Clover girls’ softball camp for ages 5 to 15 will be from 9 a.m. to noon July 16-19 at Clover High.
