York police: Facebook post leads to street fight

August 6, 2013

— A Facebook posting led to a street fight in York last week, according to a York Police report.

Police say they were called to Mighty Joe Trail after 11 p.m. Aug. 3 to find a section of the street filled with people, mostly teenage girls.

Police determined the ruckus began when two teens, encouraged by others, began fighting each other over a Facebook posting.

A parent of a 14-year-old victim told police a group of about 10 girls jumped on her daughter and began pulling her hair. She also suffered some bruising and a torn t-shirt, the report states.

No one was seriously injured.

Police diffused the gathering and turned the case over to the detective division for investigation.
