— A new York Comprehensive High School athletic website is available to supporters of every sport.

“We are proud to announce our expanded website and encourage athletes, parents and Cougar supporters of the community to take advantage of the opportunity,” said YCHS athletic director Steve Boyd.

“It is a valuable source for those that follow YCHS athletics,” he said.

Boyd said the expanded site has more sports-related information.

“We especially encourage Cougar supporters to take advantage of the email alerts,” said Boyd. “This includes information for a specific team and cancellations as they occur.”

To access email alerts, go to and click on email alerts. You can sign up to receive email alerts, text alerts or both. The alerts can be selected by team.

Those who use the website will receive a confirmation email and directions to finalize their registration. Those who select text alerts will receive a confirmation text that includes a code that needs to be typed into the box appearing after clicking “submit” for your registration.

The homepage also includes various other links for YCHS athletics.

For example, there is a YCHS Athletic Booster Club link that includes a membership form. Another link goes to a YCHS monthly calendar of events for a seasonal update of sports happenings.

The fan shop link enables users to purchase items from the YCHS spirit-wear shop.

Other information includes 2013 York Comprehensive High School fall sports schedules and 2013-14 sports physical forms.

Under the homepage files and links, the user can access information pertaining to every sport, including team photos and coaches’ names with cellphone number or email address.

The updated website includes the following contacts: Steve Boyd, athletic director,; John Moorefield, assistant athletic director,; Karen Ransom, athletic secretary,; athletic office phone, 803-818-6244 or 803-818-6245; and website,
