Clover’s upcoming games

The Clover High School girls’ golf team will compete in a three-way match with Nation Ford and Lancaster at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Lancaster Country Club. The team will play rival York 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at York’s Spring Lake County Club.

The Clover swim team will host Fort Mill 5 p.m. Thursday at the River Hills Country Club.

Also Thursday, the Blue Eagle JV football team will play Forestview for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Gaston County school.

The Clover High School girls’ tennis team will host Nation Ford 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The CHS volleyball team will host to Union 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The cross country team will be at South Pointe Tuesday for a 5 p.m. meet.

York’s upcoming games

The York Comprehensive High School varsity girls’ tennis team will host Northwestern 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The cross country team will open the 2013 season Tuesday at Rock Hill High School. The meet will begin at 5 p.m.

The varsity swim team will compete at Nation Ford at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Springs Complex in Fort Mill.

The freshman football team will travel to Rock Hill’s District Three Stadium to battle the Rock Hill Bearcats at 5:30 p.m.

Clover youth soccer kicks in

The Clover Parks and Recreation Department’s fall youth soccer teams are in the midst of preseason practices until Sept. 6.

Regular-season play begins the week of Sept. 9 for U8 coed, U10 boys and girls, U12 boys and girls and U15 boys and girls. Regular-season play begins Sept. 14 for U6 coed participants.

YCHS cheerleader clinic set for Sept. 21

The York Comprehensive High School varsity cheerleaders will host a youth cheerleader clinic Sept. 21 at the high school.

The clinic is for kindergarteners to sixth-graders; application forms are available at York schools.

Clinic participants will cheer with varsity cheerleaders at the Cougar football team’s home game against Keenan Sept. 20, part of the York Parks and Recreation Department Cheerleader Night at the YCHS stadium.

“Our cheerleaders look forward to the youth clinic,” said YCHS cheerleader coach Brandi Alexander. “They look forward to helping the kids.”

Cougar reserved season football tickets remain

A handful of reserved season football tickets are still available for the Cougars’ six remaining home games, said Steve Boyd, athletic director at York Comprehensive High School.

The cost is $56 for the season ticket package. Contact the athletic department at YCHS, 803-818-6244 or 803-818-6245, for information about reserved season tickets, student passes and parking passes.

YCHS student passes are $50 for all sports events during the school year.

Parking passes for Friday night home football games are $10.

York Rec extends late fall registration

The York Parks and Recreation Department has announced that late registration for fall youth sports will continue through Friday at the York Recreation Center on White Rose Lane.

The registration fee for tackle football and cheerleading is $35, while the fee for flag football is $30. Registration Thursday and Friday will include a $10 late charge.

Schedules for the fall will be announced after the late registration period. For details, contact the center at 684-3742.
