The York and Clover Enquirer-Herald is a weekly newspaper that has been serving Western York County in one form or another since 1853, making it the oldest weekly paper in South Carolina in continuous publication.
In 2006 the Yorkville Enquirer (founded in 1853) and the Clover Herald (founded in 1928) merged and became the York and Clover Enquirer-Herald. The combined paper serves all of western York County including the communities of York, Clover, Sharon, Hickory Grove, Bethel, Lake Wylie, Bethany, Smyrna and McConnells.
The Enquirer-Herald is a true community newspaper with emphasis each week on local schools, government, churches, sports, lifestyles and more. Over the years both papers gained a reputation as the source for what was going on in western York County. Readers came to value the publications as their link to local happenings 52 weeks a year. That reputation now lives on in the combined publication.
Staff members take pride in the Enquirer-Herald, and the high regard readers have for it. That pride in the product, and the care and professionalism with which the Enquirer-Herald is produced each week, is evidenced by the fact that the combined publication has continued to be the recipient of some of the state's most prestigious newspaper awards presented by the South Carolina Press Association each year.
We invite you to discover for yourself everything that is going on in our communities.
