St. Paul UMC to hold ice cream social
St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1550 St. Paul Church Road, Clover, will have an old-fashioned ice cream social 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. Hot dogs and homemade ice cream will be served.

Life of Charity plans yard sale, fish fry

Beersheba plans bring a friend day
CLOVER Beersheba Presbyterian Church, South Beersheba Road, Clover, will have a Pack a Pew and Bring a Friend Family Day at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8. Lunch and games will follow the worship.
Good Sam UMC adds service
LAKE WYLIE Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane, Lake Wylie, will offer a new modern worship service 10:30 a.m. Sundays. The new service will follow a 9 a.m. service that will be the usual blended service of traditional and contemporary elements.

First Presbyterian plans Bible studies
YORK First Presbyterian Church will host these Bible study opportunities:
• Lunchtime Bible study, BYOS (Bring Your Own Sandwich), is noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays.
The six-week study will be on the book of Jonah, “You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide!” Free.
• A women’s Bible study is 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays. The study will be Beth Moore’s “A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place,” on the Old Testament tabernacle. Cost of the study book is $16.
• A men’s Bible study meets 7:15 a.m. Tuesdays. The current study is on the book of Genesis. There is no cost.
All Bible studies are open to the community.

Run for God starts Sept. 17
LAKE WYLIE Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane, will begin its fall Run for God series Sept. 17.
Community members are welcome to join this 12-week couch-to-5K program, which will meet weekly 6 p.m. at the church. Experts will talk about preventing injury, proper nutrition and proper footwear.
The nationwide program started with Mitchell Hollis of Dalton, Ga., donning a T-shirt declaring “Run for God” with a stick figure drawing. The program now is run in more than 400 churches in more than 40 states. The program trains participants by walking for a minute and running 30 seconds, for 30 minutes three times a week, until eventually being able to run 30 minutes to complete a 5K.

Community Bible Study women’s class
LAKE WYLIE The Community Bible Study will offer a women’s day class with a baby, children and teen program 9:15 a.m. Wednesdays at River Hills Community Church on S.C. 49 in Lake Wylie.
CBS is an unaffiliated, international Bible study, where all denominations and ages are welcome. This year’s 30-week study of “The Gospel of John” is a warm, intimate study of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
Preschool will have a three-year journey through the Bible, while children in first to 12th grades study John in their own core groups.
New Beginnings seeks volunteers
CLOVER Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church that delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.
Volunteers also are being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps provide housing for the homeless.
Volunteers will help with daily operations including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.
