Clover band, dance team, cheerleaders: A touch of class

September 3, 2013

— Clover High School head football coach Chad Smith has repeatedly said he is impressed with the community’s steadfast loyalty to Blue Eagle football.

He also speaks in glowing terms of the unconditional support the team receives from the student body, including the CHS band, cheerleaders and dance team.

A case in point was Friday’s postgame scene following the Blue Eagles’ 41-6 loss to Forestview.

CHS cheerleaders and dance team members stood behind the Clover players during the playing of the school’s alma mater, each one placing a hand on a player’s shoulder pads as a show of unity.

While Smith huddled with the team for his postgame remarks, the CHS band remained in the stands.

After Smith finished talking with the players, band members gave the team a rousing ovation.

Smith said the team appreciates the genuine show of support from the band, cheerleaders, dance team and student body.

“The students and fans are behind us while we are down,” he said. “They know the situation. They know we will win.”

Smith added: “Clover doesn’t have bandwagon supporters. This place is special.”
