East Clover Church of God names new pastor

From staff reportsSeptember 13, 2013

— East Clover Church of God in Clover has named the Rev. Patrick Conley as its new pastor.

Conley previously served as a youth pastor in Gastonia, N.C., and also traveled as an evangelist. He was born in a small town in Jefferson County, W.Va., a bedroom community of Washington, D.C.

“I felt I was called to the ministry at a very young age,” said Conley. “However, I didn’t truly surrender my life to God until I was a young adult.”

Conley met his wife, Heather, while they were both volunteering with a church youth camp. At East Clover Church of God, they have revised the youth and children’s programs.

Conley said the church has had a children’s day and a girls’ sleepover and are planning more youth events. He also said they have been collecting school supplies for children in need.

Conley says he intends to encourage the church to reach out to the community and to support missions at home and abroad.

“We desire to be an active community engaged church, where folks of all backgrounds can come together to worship,” Conley said. “Yet, we want to be more than a social gathering or civic society. Folks are hurting, tired, and seeking fulfillment. I believe the church should be a place for them to be restored, refreshed and replenished.”

The East Clover Church of God meets at 11 a.m. Sunday at 743 Church Park Drive, Clover.
