Mount Vernon UMC plans Sunday lunch, bazaar
HICKORY GROVE Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2160 Smithford Road, Hickory Grove, will host a first Sunday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at the church.
The menu will include pork chops, chicken strips, rice and gravy, mac and cheese, green beans, spiced apples and homemade rolls, desserts and tea, coffee or water.
Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children ages 10 and younger. Diners may eat in or take out. All take-out plates are $8.
Proceeds go to the building fund.
In addition, the church fall bazaar will be Saturday, Oct. 26 in the church fellowship center. A buffet breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. and a lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers and homemade chicken stew will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bazaar shopping will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The bazaar will feature a country store of homemade baked goods, frozen casseroles and canned goods. There will be an assortment of handmade crafts, seasonal decorations, baby gifts and more.

Bethel Baptist plans revival
YORK Bethel Baptist Church, 6031 Charlotte Hwy., York, will have revival services beginning 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.
The revival will continue at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 to 16.
Hillcrest Baptist to hold homecoming
YORK Hillcrest Baptist Church will have a 54-year homecoming celebration on Sunday, Oct. 6. Morning worship starts at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or night services. Lunch will be after morning worship.
At 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 will be a fellowship singing featuring members of the congregation. All former members and community invited. A student service is at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays; children meet at 7 p.m. Thursdays.
Craft and food bazaar Nov. 2
YORK Tirzah Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church, 6161 Mount Gallant Road, will host the Tirzah Fest Craft and Food Bazaar will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2.
There will be crafts and baskets for Christmas giving for sale along with canned vegetables, frozen home-cooked casserole meals, fresh baked cakes, cookies and candies and vendors. Sausage biscuits with juice and coffee will be for sale beginning at 8 a.m., and Thanksgiving dinner with the trimmings at noon, with take-out starting at 10 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Tirzah Women’s Missions Fund. Kings Mountain UMC to host yard sale
YORK A large yard sale, hosted by the Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Women, will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the church on Philbeck Road and S.C. 161. The event is open to the community.
Individual, family or group spaces are 12-by-12 and are $5 each. Sausage biscuits, hot dogs and baked goods will be sold. Proceeds will go to local mission projects.

Community invited to Table Talk
LAKE WYLIE River Hills Community Church is starting Table Talk, a new weekly experience for the whole family.
The program on Wednesdays through Oct. 23 includes gathering for dinner, fellowship, study and conversation about key stories of the Bible. The stories are basic for new Christians, yet have unexpected flair to engage the seasoned Bible reader. Stories include Creation, The Fall, The Flood, Father Abraham, Ten Words, and The Great Commandment.
Sessions include a meal, the telling of the story, Table Talk questions and discussion, and activities for all ages.

YORK Trinity United Methodist Church in York will host the annual western York County CROP walk for hunger relief beginning at 3 p.m. Oct.13.
Junk in the Trunk sale Oct. 5

All Saints kicks off building campaign
LAKE WYLIE All Saints Catholic Church, 530 S.C. 274, is conducting its “All Saints Alive” campaign to raise money to build a Parish Life Center.
A minimum goal of $1.2 million and challenge goal of $1.8 million have been set.
The celebration culminates during Commitment Weekend, Nov. 16-17.

First Presbyterian plans Bible studies
YORK First Presbyterian Church will host these Bible study opportunities:
• Lunchtime Bible study, BYOS (Bring Your Own Sandwich), is noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays.
The six-week study will be on the book of Jonah, “You Can Run, But You Can’t Hide!” Free.
• A women’s Bible study is 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays. The study will be Beth Moore’s “A Woman’s Heart: God’s Dwelling Place,” on the Old Testament tabernacle. Cost of the study book is $16.
• A men’s Bible study meets 7:15 a.m. Tuesdays. The current study is on the book of Genesis. There is no cost.

Community Bible Study women’s class
LAKE WYLIE The Community Bible Study will offer a women’s day class with a baby, children and teen program 9:15 a.m. Wednesdays at River Hills Community Church on S.C. 49 in Lake Wylie.
CBS is an unaffiliated, international Bible study, where all denominations and ages are welcome. This year’s 30-week study of “The Gospel of John” is a warm, intimate study of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
Preschool will have a three-year journey through the Bible, while children in first to 12th grades study John in their own core groups.

New Beginnings seeks volunteers
CLOVER Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church that delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.
Volunteers also are being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps provide housing for the homeless.
Volunteers will help with daily operations including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.
