Cost of medicine to rise because of health care

In response to the letter from Harry Dalton, I don’t know where he gets his information on the Affordable Care Act, well known as Obamacare.

I presume he gets most of information from the mainstream media — New York Times, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC and maybe some from MSNBC. I don’t know all are aligned with the president’s point of view.

Some facts I do know and have seen in my own insurance. The price of my insulin — I take two kinds — before Obamacare cost me $50 for a three-month supply. Now, it costs me $187.50 each month for a total of $395.

My doctor just wrote a prescription for a drug that will cost about $300 a month or about $900 for a 90-day supply. I won’t be able to pay for this medicine. I will have to do without it and will probably die faster than if I were able to take this medicine.

My insurance premium has risen from about $198 when I retired to about $400 a month now.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said you would have to wait and see what is it? Well, what I see, I don’t like.

I’m sure Mr. Dalton will be going before a board for them to decide whether he gets the treatment he needs in the future. Maybe Congress will come to its senses and come up with a better plan. I hope so, for everyone’s sake.
