Clover’s Siopa on Main opens coffee, dessert cafe

October 8, 2013

— Siopa on Main — the word siopa means shop in Gaelic — opened last November in downtown Clover and recently expanded with a coffee and dessert café in the retail shop.

Siopa On Main, owned by Mary Goforth and Andrea Meglii, features vendor spaces and sells some items on consignment. Shoppers can now sip coffee or eat a baked good while they shop.

“We offer a comfortable family atmosphere which is a great gathering spot for all to enjoy and feel at home,” said Goforth, of Clover. The cafe seats 15 in the main area near the counter, and there’s a lounge area and a children’s area.

The space is available for small gatherings or business meetings before or after hours.

The café also exhibits artwork for shoppers to enjoy and buy. The menu includes espresso drinks such as lattes, mochas, cappuccinos and a selection of hot and cold drinks. It also offers fresh baked in-house goodies.

Siopa On Main takes small amounts of items on consignment and has vendor spaces available for people who have items they want to sell, but who don’t want to shoulder the expense and responsibility of operating a store.

The shop offers arts and crafts, some antique and unique items. Goforth and Meglii said the are looking for motivated vendors for the holiday season. If you are interested in selling your items, please give them a call.

The shop will be hosting classes on jewelry making, knitting and card making, as well as home-based business parties. They plan to host local authors’ book signings and holiday events.

Goforth and Meglii, members of the Greater Clover Chamber of Commerce, also promote local shopping.

Siopa On Main is at 112 S. Main St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and until 8 p.m. on Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. For more information or to see the menu, visit their web site,, call 704-648-7600 or 704-813-2882 or find Siopa On Main on Facebook.
