— Three York students have been cited for vandalizing a concession stand at Harold C. Johnson Elementary School on Friday afternoon, according to a York Police report.

The children, all 11-year-old boys who attend York Intermediate School, told police they were trying to break into the stand to steal whatever was inside.

Both the door handle and lock of the concession stand behind the school’s football field were damaged and large rocks were found in the surrounding area, the report reads. Damages were estimated at $3,000.

The mother of one of the boys told police she was also taking care of one of the other boys this past weekend.

Administrators for both schools will be contacted at the start of the school week.

Aside from custodians, the school did not have other staff or students present at the time of the incident. The case is still active.
