YCHS golfers compete in upstate event

The York Comprehensive High School girls golf team finished 11th with a team total of 408 in class AAAA upper state competition held Oct. 21 at Three Pines Golf Club near Spartanburg.

South Pointe, who finished fourth in last year’s state tournament, won its first ever upstate event.

Mallory Prosser paced the YCHS team’s individual scoring with a 100 score. Taylor Ramsey and Sarah Smith were next at 102, followed closely by Kimball Prosser’s 104.

In the Region 3-AAA Tournament, held the previous week at the Lancaster Golf Club, the YCHS golfers finished third with a 390 team score.

South Pointe carded a school record 307 to win the region event, with host Lancaster placing second at 331. Fort Mill rounded out the top four upper state qualifiers with a 393 team score.

Smith, who made the all-region team for the second year in a row, paced the Lady Cougar golfers with an 86. Kimball Prosser was next at 97. Ashley McCarter carded a 102 and Mallory Prosser finished at 105.
