CHS band places fourth in state 4A

November 4, 2013

— The Clover High School Marching Band’s 127 students traveled Oct. 26 to Spring Valley High School, where they placed fourth in the S.C. state 4A championship.

Led by drum majors Jeff Trowbridge and Mary MacInnis, and directed by band directors Eric Wells, Dan Lenard and Jonathan Rudd, the band beat all but three competitors.

The band students performed their 2013 show, “Thy Kingdom Come.”

On Oct. 19, the week before the state competition, Clover placed fourth at Boiling Springs High School during the Upper State Competition in a field dominated by York County bands.

Their Upper State success followed three weekends of state and regional competitions as they prepared for the State 4A Championships.

Since becoming 4A six years ago, the Clover High School Marching Band has successfully competed every year for a spot at the SC 4A State Championships.
