York Middle eighth-grade football thumps Gold Hill

November 5, 2013

— The York Middle School eighth-grade team closed out the season with a 6-2 record following a 63-14 conquest of Gold Hill last week.

York Middle scored on the first offensive play of the game on a 65-yard touchdown run and scored in every quarter, with seven different players scoring.

“Our kids played well and played very hard,” said head coach Jerry Kemp. “We are very proud of the effort. All team members contributed to the win.”

Kemp said the Cougars had only one penalty and one turnover.

“Defensively, we held Gold Hill to two first downs, forced a safety and intercepted a pass,” said Kemp. “Our kids had at least 10 tackles for loss and one takeaway for a touchdown.”
