CLOVER — The Clover Parks and Recreation Department wound down another fall baseball season with championship games at Clover Community Park.
“We were very lucky as an organization to have good weather, outstanding competition and the ability to host all participating players during the fall games,” said coordinator Andrew Kaser.
Kaser said Coach Pitch Cubs had a bit of a rocky season before turning things around.
“The Cubs got hot at the right time, winning throughout the tournament and taking home the championship with a 13-11 win over the Braves,” said Kaser.
The Tigers won in the Minor League.
“The Tigers had a great season in Minor League play, winning the regular-season championship and taking the tournament title as well,” Kaser said.
The Tigers and the Knights had a hard fought, back-and-forth battle in the championship game, with the Tigers rallying late to seal the win, 11-3.
In the Major League, the Rockies won the regular-season and tournament championship. “The Rockies had a great team and dominated games with offense, defense and pitching,” Kaser said.
“Although there were many upsets and close games throughout the regular season and tournament bracket games, the Rockies took home the championship, needing a clutch base bit and run in the team’s final at-bat to win a 7-6 thriller over the Mountaineers,” he said.
