YORK — On Saturday, the United Youth Football League will host its annual Southland Youth Football League Carolina Bowl at York Comprehensive High School Stadium from 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Southland Youth Football League will host eight championship games to determine the Division I and Division II champions in four different age groups. The age divisions range from 6-12 years old. The leagues officials expect 4,000 people to attend the event on Saturday. "The City of York and the York Little Cougars are excited to host the Southland Championships at York Comprehensive High School, says Peter Vacho, York Little Cougars president.
These teams battling for the championship represent some of the finest the Carolinas have to offer. This is the first year that York will host the Carolina Bowl since it began in 2005. Twelve football associations make up the Southland League, which makes it one of the biggest united youth football leagues in the country. Carolina Bowl participants will come from various locations throughout the Carolinas stretching from Spartanburg, SC to Mooresville, N.C. The event is open to the public and parking will be available at the stadium. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students, and free for children 5 years and under.
