York schools collect 5,487 canned goods for PATH

— York schools collected 5,487 canned goods last week during a “Pack the Pantry” food drive for PATH, or People Attempting to Help, which serves needy families in York.

The York schools were grouped into three teams in a competition to see which group could collect the most canned food items.

The winner was the York Intermediate, York Academy and York Middle school group, which collected 3,047 canned good items.

Family Trust Federal Credit Union agreed to present $500 to the school group that collected the most.

The other groups and the amounts they collected were, elementary schools, 1,558 cans, and York Comprehensive High School and the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center, 882 cans.
