ROCK HILL — York Technical College is trying to make college admission and enrollment a one-stop shopping experience with an event called York Tech Connect on Tuesday.
Were finding college, in general, the process can be a little overwhelming for people, said Monique Perry, director of strategic communications and marketing. So this event allows the college to bring together all of its resources in one place.
This is the second time the school has held this event, Perry said. The first one, held last June, garnered an overwhelming response with 350 prospective students attending.
Of those, 211 are still enrolled at York Tech, as of November 2013.
Anyone is welcome to attend Connect, whether theyve considered attending York Tech before or not, Perry said.
For some people, its the nudge they need to go back to school, she said.
All the campus resources will be available in one place. Enrollment counselors, career counselors, financial aid, faculty and others will be on hand to offer advice and guidance.
Our application is free, our testing is free and we can give you instant admission, Perry said.
But those looking for a head start are encouraged to bring some form of photo identification and transcripts, if theyve attended school before. They can also bring in tax returns to get started on financial aid applications.
While these arent necessary to get plenty out of the Connect event, Perry said it can help make the process go smoother if they have that information available.
Taking significant steps in the college enrollment process is what Connect is all about, she said.
Connect is designed to connect people with the campus and their journey here and get them as far along in the process as we are able, Perry said.
Pre-registration online, is preferred but not required for attendance. Registration at the event begins at 5 p.m.
According to its website, York Tech had almost 7,000 credit students last year across 85 programs of study.
