— Police arrested a York woman accused of stabbing a man Wednesday night at a York apartment complex, according to the York Police Department.

Tammy Rose Hawkins, 46, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to a release from Police Chief Andy Robinson and booking information. She is in jail at the Moss Justice Center on a $50,000 bond.

At 11:42 p.m. police received a 911 call about a man who had been stabbed at Cedar Terrace Apartments at 907 E. Liberty Street in York. Officers responded and found the victim, Richard Lee Stewart III, 20, lying on his back with a stab wound to his left upper chest area, police say.

Witnesses said Hawkins fled the scene on foot after stabbing Hawkins, according to the release.

Officers canvassed the area and located Hawkins on South Pacific Avenue, where she was arrested at about 12:15 a.m.

Stewart was airlifted to a Charlotte hospital, where he was in stable condition Thursday morning.
