Phillip Ballard

— A York man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl he used to babysit.

Phillip Ballard, 36, is charged with criminal sexual conduct of a minor, first degree, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Ballard watched the girl, 8, in the summer of 2012. He exposed himself to the child in his house and vehicle, according to a police report. He also touched the girl inappropriately, and told the girl not to tell her father or he would "take a belt across her legs," the report states.

More than a year later, the girl and her father ran into Ballard at a Burger King restaurant and she told her dad about the assault.

After an investigation, Ballard was arrested and booked Friday at the Moss Justice Center, where bond has been denied.
