Financial Peace classes to begin

Oakdale Presbyterian Church, 12585 S.C. 55, will begin Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4.

The nine-week course provides families and individuals with tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week where a different lesson is taught on DVD followed by a small-group discussion.

Mount Vernon UMC plans first Sunday lunch

Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2160 Smithford Road, Hickory Grove, will have its first Sunday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2

The menu will include stew beef and rice, chicken strips, mac and cheese, green beans, homemade slaw, rolls, desserts and tea, coffee and water.

Meals are eat-in or take-out. Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children ages 10 and older. All take-out plates are $8. For tickets, contact Beth Ramsey, 803-985-2636.

Smyrna church plans evangelism training

Ebenezer AME Zion Church, Ebenezer Road, Smyrna, will offer “Tell Your Faith Story, Becoming a Contagious Christian,” an evangelism training, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 1, 15 and 22.

McConnells church to host Staffsmen Quartet

First Baptist Church, McConnells, will present the Staffsmen Quartet in concert at 11 a.m. Feb. 2.

Mount Do-Well plans prayer breakfast

Mount Do-Well Baptist Church, U.S. 321, McConnells, will have a Black History Month prayer breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 15. Tickets are $5.

The Journey and Pine Grove Baptist unite

The Journey at Lake Wylie and Pine Grove Baptist Church are uniting congregations.

Both churches will become one family on Sunday, Feb. 2, and will meet at the Pine Grove Baptist Church, 5415 Hwy. 557.

Kenny Ashley, pastor of The Journey, will become pastor of the newly formed congregation.

Healthy marriage class scheduled

Pastor Gayle and Joe Montgomery of River Hills Community Church are holding “Dynamic Marriage,” a transformative course that promotes real and lasting change in healthy marriages, at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 9.

Space is limited to 12 couples. Orientation classes are scheduled 6-7 p.m. Jan. 24 or 7-8 p.m. Jan. 29. Child care may be provided. Cost is $150 for books and materials per couple, plus childcare costs. Call 803-831-1615 to register.

New Beginnings seeks volunteers

Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church that delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.

Volunteers are also being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps provide housing for the homeless. Volunteers will help with daily operations including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.

Community Cafe serving lunch

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
