Agape to host drop-in

Tax help available
YORK COUNTY The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program for low-income, elderly and handicapped taxpayers began this week.
Tax assistance will be offered 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday through April 15 at Rock Hill City Hall Wellness Center; and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays from Feb. 1-22 at the Clover Public Library., 107 Knox St.; Rock Hill Galleria, 2301 Dave Lyle Blvd.; and Leroy Springs Recreation Complex, 971 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill.

YORK COUNTY Registration is open for Girls on the Run of the Tri County, presented by Piedmont Medical Center. Activities begin Feb. 24 and end with the Girls on the Run 5K on May 10.
The after-school program inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.

LAKE WYLIE The Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women’s Club welcomes newcomers, visitors and members to its Feb. 28 membership luncheon at River Hills Country Club.
The featured speaker will be Kim Wellman, president of the S.C. Federation of Republican Women.

Polar Plunge Feb. 22 for Special Olympics
LAKE WYLIE Area Eleven Special Olympics will host the third annual Frozen Fans Polar Plunge on Feb. 22 at Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie. Registration begins 11 a.m.; the plunge is at noon.
Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics athletes in York, Chester and Lancaster counties by providing year-round sports training and competition for local, state and national competitions.
A minimum $50 must be raised to take the plunge, and participants will receive a Frozen Fans T-shirt. Fun costumes are encouraged but not required. Registration is not necessary. For information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gardening symposium planned
ROCK HILL Seven experts on gardening will be featured during the ninth annual Joy of Gardening Symposium on March 1 at Baxter Hood Center, York Technical College, Rock Hill.
Speakers include Joe Lamp’l, Barry Glick, Cory Tanner, Stephanie Turner, Keven Shanks, Paul Thompson and Rolf Mischker. Topics range from the “Five Biggest Mistakes in Our Gardens and How to Fix Them” to “Organic Pest Management.”
Nearly 20 vendors will offer plants, gardening books, pottery, jewelry and other items during the event. Registration will open 8 a.m. Cost is $50 and includes lunch and drawings for door prizes.
