A York County man was arrested after calling 911 to report he had assaulted his girlfriend, according to a report from the York County Sheriffs Office.
Gregory Bailey, 51, of Hickory Grove called around midnight on Saturday to report the assault. When officers arrived at the home, they found Baileys girlfriend, 47, unable to move on her own.
She had extensive injuries, the report stated, including a face swollen so much that her eyes couldnt be seen, blood in her mouth and bruising on her arms.
She told officers that Bailey hit her with her walker, a salt shaker and other household items. Officers also saw a round mark on her face that appeared to come from the head of a hammer and found a hammer at the home with blood on it.
The girlfriend, who was taken to the hospital, told officers Bailey, who had left in his car, was probably going to Community Street in Rock Hill and officers found him there on Sunday afternoon. Bailey told officers that he and his girlfriend and been taking pills and drinking alcohol when the incident occurred and officers noted that both of Baileys hands were swollen.
The report states that Bailey was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, but the York County Detention Center and public records indicate that Bailey has now been charged with attempted murder.
