Windy Hill hard ciders honored

— Windy Hill Orchard & Cidery near York says its hard ciders again have been awarded medals at the annual Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition.

The medal-winners are: Gala Peach Sweet Cider, gold; Rusty Gold Spiced Cider, silver; Hoppin Johnny Dry Hopped Cider, silver; and Ginger Gold, silver.

The international competition, the second-largest of its kind, included more than 500 entrants from throughout the U.S. and nine other countries.

The hard ciders are sold at the cidery on S.C. 5 near York and in both North and South Carolina. For more information about the hard ciders, visit the websites www.windyhillorchard.com and www.yorkcider.com.

The orchard and cidery will be open for tastings on Saturday and Sunday during April and May. Hours will be 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. Sundays.
