Mount Vernon UMC plans Sunday lunch

Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 2160 Smithford Road, Hickory Grove, will have a first Sunday lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4.

The menu will include ham, chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, parsley potatoes, green beans, slaw, homemade rolls, homemade desserts, and tea, coffee and water.

Cost is $8 adults and $4 for children ages 10 and younger. All take-out plates are $8. Diners can eat in or take out. Gift certificates are available.

Proceeds go to the church building fund and local, national and world missions.

Spring Concert May 7 at River Hills church

Spring Concert with The Music Men and Sometime Singers will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 7 in the sanctuary of River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamilton’s Ferry Road.

Take trip to Holy Land

Charles and Barbara Ford of Lake Wylie will host a trip to the Holy Land Nov. 5-15.

The Fords have lived in and visited Israel many times and have insight into the history, religion and modern day culture of this region, the birthplace of Christianity.

A series of pre-departure study sessions is being planned.

Clover church to hold VBS

New Life Baptist Church, 305 N. Main St., Clover, will hold vacation Bible school 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 14 for grades pre-k through sixth.

Lunch will be provided for children. A family cookout with games follows at 4 p.m. Call 803-222-9990.

Affirmation of York County to meet

Affirmation of York County is a new support group for people of all faith communities who seek support and understanding in working through the issues confronted by gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, their families and friends.

Meetings are 7-8:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 S.C. 160, Fort Mill. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 13.

New Beginnings seeks volunteers

Volunteers are needed for God’s Kitchen, a ministry of New Beginnings Baptist Church that delivers meals to at least 120 shut-ins each day.

Volunteers also are being sought for the Lighthouse Thrift Store, which helps provide housing for the homeless. Volunteers will help with daily operations including delivery, pickup and sorting donations.

Community Cafe serving lunch

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly. The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations are accepted. Details: 330-289-1243.
