— A 16-year-old student was arrested at York Comprehensive High School on Tuesday afternoon over accusations that he brought a knife to school, according to York Police.

The report states that an assistant principal approached the male student, who has not been named, in the school bus parking lot Tuesday morning and asked him if he had anything on him that wasn’t allowed. The student said no but kept his right hand in his pocket.

When the principal asked to see what the student was holding, the student handed over a knife. According to the report, the knife measured less than five inches when closed and nearly eight inches when extended from a holder.

The student told staff he wasn’t planning to use the knife. He was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and released to his parents.
