Braves win Clover Minor League Tournament

The Clover Braves defeated the Clover Indians 7-1 in the Clover Parks and Recreation Department’s Minor League Championship game.

Head coach Brian Simmons said steady improvement played a big role in the team’s successful run in late-season play as well as the postseason tournament.

“I knew we had a talented team early on in the season,” Simmons said. “We didn’t play our best at first but the more we practiced, the more the team came together,” Simmons said.

The Braves head coach said the team took a turn at a pivotal time and all of a sudden started winning games.

“I feel honored to have witnessed the dedication from the team and to be able to lead them all the way to the end,” said Simmons.

“We had a great team of assistant coaches and parents on our side at every game,” he said. “It sure makes it a lot easier when the whole group, inclusive of the parents, becomes supportive and involved.”
