Clover celebrates a scaled-down Feis Chlobhair

From staff reportsJune 17, 2014

— The town of Clover hosted a scaled-down version of its annual Feis Chlobhair on Saturday with Scottish heavy athletics and a rugby tournament at New Centre Park.

Organizers have said scheduling and logistical issues narrowed the scope of the event this year.

Entertainment that has been part of the event for the past 18 years – including music, genealogy tents, vendors and sheepdog herding demonstrations – was not offered.

The Wee Heavy 7’s Rugby Tournament, however, organized by the Gastonia Rugby Football Club and featuring five teams playing for the title, was a newer feature. The festival included a rugby tournament several years ago but has not had that event every year.

Organizing committee members Ed Stewart and Carla Pendleton said they are planning to bring the event back with all the traditional entertainment, vendors and other features in June 2015.
