Pedestrian dies on his birthday after being struck by vehicle in Clover

— A pedestrian died on his birthday after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in Clover.

Ricky James Ryan of Clover was fatally injured at about 9:45 p.m. while walking along Hwy. 321 at Ridge Road, according to the York County Coroner's office and S.C. Highway Patrol.

Ryan turned 55 on Friday, Coroner Sabrina Gast said.

Ryan was walking west, across Hwy. 321 when he stepped into the path of a BMW sedan that was driving south. The driver was a 35-year-old femalefrom Gastonia, N.C. The driver was not injured.

No charges have been filed.
