Joseph L. Caldwell
CLOVER -- Joseph L. Caldwell, 90, of 1087 Ridge Road, Clover, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at home.
Mr. Caldwell was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Gaston County, N.C., to the late Robbie Riddle and Edward Newton Caldwell. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and served in India from 1942 to 1945.
A funeral service was held May 6, 2008, at Bowling Green Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James Gable and the Rev. Harold Hutchison officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy B. Caldwell; daughter, Joanne Caldwell Jackson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Patrick and Diane Caldwell and Robbie Riddle and Marti Caldwell; sister, Betty Taylor of Gastonia, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

YORK -- Nettie Mae Robinson Benfield, 89, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at White Oak Manor in York.
The funeral was May 2 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. The Rev. James Gable officiated. Burial was at Philadelphia UMC Cemetery.

Laura "Peggy" Petty Wilson
CLOVER -- Laura "Peggy" Petty Wilson, 80, of 1025 Lawrence Road, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Pineville Rehab & Living Center, Pineville, N.C.
A funeral service was held May 7, 2008, at Bowling Green Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James Gable and the Rev. Harold Hutchinson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born June 25, 1927, to the late Mott Quinn and Johnsie Dulin Petty. She was a graduate of Winthrop University and completed additional studies at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben William Wilson.
Survivors are her three sons and three daughters and their spouses: Dr. Ben William Wilson and Dorothy Wilson of Clio, S.C.; Jane Wilson Stein and Stephen M. Stein of Clover, S.C.; Walter Quinn Wilson and Terry Wilson of Bangor, Pa.; Laura Wilson Watts and John Watts of Columbia, S.C.; John Robert Wilson and Shala Wilson of Greenville, S.C.; Mary Catherine Wilson of West Columbia, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

SMYRNA -- Ruth Martin Childers, 82, of 2057 Ebenezer Road died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Gaffney.
A graveside service was held May 4, 2008, at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev Ray Long officiating. Burial was at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Frankie Wood McCall
Clover -- Frankie Wood McCall, 90, of Clover, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A graveside service was held May 5, 2008, at Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Douglass Key officiating.
Mrs. McCall was born December 15, 1917, in York County to the late William Boyce and Ethel Lee Grayson Wood. She worked at Huntley in York and was a teacher's aide with the Clover School District. Mrs. McCall was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Scott McCall, a daughter, Frankie Mac Spurrier and a son, Dan L. McCall.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Sammy Ann and Ted McCarley; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Jane McCall; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
